One of the most popular museums in Paris is the Musee d’Orsay. This museum is probably best known for its display of work by French artists of the 19th and 20th century eras.

The museum is located near the Seine River not far from the Louvre. The building housing the collection was originally a railway station along with a hotel. The railway closed in 1939 and the hotel followed suit in 1973. It was at that time that the Paris officials had decided to convert its use.

When you arrive inside the expansive interior of the Muse d’Orsay you will see many of the exotic works of the 19th century. It is for that reason that it has become the home of freelance artists who love to make use of opportunities created by the French Revolution to recreate much of the work of these grandmasters of the arts. You can find work from the likes of Manet Millet, Cournet Manet and others of the post impressionist genre.

Musee d’Orsay, is also equipped with a very beautiful café upstairs where visitors can unwind after a long and hectic day. It is even possible to see more of the exotic work of artists like Redon and Moreau and there is also a darkened room meant for light drawings.
